FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 3rd Feb 2015
Sex With A Difference – ME/CFS e-book. UK wide contributions sought
SWAD CIC is delighted to announce the launch of our search for contributions for our e-book SEX WITH A DIFFERENCE – ME/CFS.
If you are 18+ and have ME/CFS, or are a partner carer or parent carer for someone who has the condition, we would like to hear from you. To get you thinking here are some questions to consider:
Has your sex life suffered due to your health problems? Do you find it difficult to take part in sex/intimate contact? What works for you and your partner? What doesn’t work?
Any tips on techniques/positions/helpful equipment? Carer or lover? – switching between both roles. Single and horny? What strategies do you use? Sex for pain relief and mental wellbeing – does it help? Do you avoid thinking about sex as a coping mechanism?
As a parent carer how do you balance the care needs of your adult child with their requirements for intimate independence? Has the role of a carer impacted your own sex life?
Have you asked for help from any health care professionals? Were they able to offer support or advice? Has any health care professional raised the issue of intimacy as part of your care needs? If so, how did you feel about this? Did you feel relief or embarrassment?
Do you feel sexual health advice is accessible to you? Is your local GUM clinic accessible? Do you view it as one clinic visit too many? If your primary carer is your parent, would you feel inhibited to ask for help attending a sexual health appointment?
SWAD CIC is a social enterprise training company regarding disability and sex.
